About the Ally Training: Designed for staff, faculty and student leaders, this professional training teaches a critical perspective about sexual orientation and gender identity/expression issues on a college campus, terminology, and how to be an ally.  GLBTQA students also share their experiences.  Participants who sign the Ally Pledge will receive a sticker or magnet for their office door and be official Safe Space Allies.

 

About the Safe Space Program: The Safe Space program at Wright State University is a comprehensive and engaging educational program that dares to transform the campus environment for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Ally (GLBTQA) students, staff and faculty.  Through its bold educational programs, individuals and offices are identified that provide a network of support for the emotional, psychological, social and physical well-being of our GLBTQA community.

Join Grace Revival Band and musician Gregg Jordan in supporting the Williams Syndrome Association at Renee's 2nd Annual Fairborn 5K Run/Walk for Williams. The 5K run is at 9:30AM, and the walk starts at 10:00AM. Gregg Jordan will perform from 9:30AM-11:30AM, with Grace Revival performing from Noon-2PM. There will be a pig roast and “bring a side” picnic, with activities for all at Fairborn Community Park on May 11th 2013.

Join the Departments of Campus Recreation, Parking and Transportation and The Office of Sustainability in celebrating May as National Bike Month. Wright State will join in the festivities happening around the Miami Valley by hosting a Bike to Campus Breakfast on Wednesday, May 15th. This event is for WSU students and employees. Ride your bike to the front entrance of the Student Union between 7:00am and 9:00am; you will be greeted by bike racks and volunteers. Once you park, you will receive a raffle ticket. Turn in your ticket downstairs in the Atrium for a Free breakfast and a chance to win 4 tickets to the May 22nd Dayton Dragons game.  Please bike safe and wear a helmet.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Check-In: Check-in will take place between 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. This will be followed by a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m.
Lunch & Awards: Lunch will immediately follow the completion of the last hole. This will take place around 12:00 p.m. along with an awards ceremony and a raffle drawing. The event will conclude around 1:15 p.m.
Registration Fee: The cost to participate in the Scholarship Golf Scramble includes 18 holes of golf, golf cart, and lunch. The fees are as follows:
$45 per WSU student
$60 per non WSU student

Every registrant participating in a pre-determined team MUST include their team captain's last name for team identification purposes. If you are your own team's captain, enter your own last name. If you are unsure who your team captain is, please check with your group. If you are registering as an individual with no pre-determined team, leave this option blank and you will be assigned to a team automatically.

There is a maximum of 2 Mulligans per person at $2 each. Each purchase of a mulligan includes an extra entry in the raffle drawing.

Come discover the thrill of Stand Up Paddling!  Stand Up Paddle boarding (or SUP) is the fastest growing water sport in the world for good reason – it’s incredibly fun and easy to learn.  We’ll provide you with a stand up paddleboard, paddle and life jacket. We will cover all the basics you need to get started: proper stance, paddling technique, turning and more.  Not only is SUP a great time, it’s also an excellent core workout! And if you want to improve your flexibility and balance, try our Yoga session on the Stand-up Paddle Boards!  Lessons and Yoga run congruently you must register for one or the other, you must have taken a lesson or have SUP experience before participating in a SUP Yoga sessions.

 

Cost:  $15  Cost includes:  Equipment, instruction, and transportation.

Would you like to test your Stand-up Paddle Boarding abilities? Stand-up Paddle Board races will be held after the SUP and yoga sessions on Tuesdays! Come and test your paddle boarding skills as you race across the lake with the grace of a ninja, the speed of a thousand leopards, and the strength of Thor’s Hammer. A variety of fun SUP Racing options will be offered so that any skill level can participate !

Red River Gorge, Slade, KY

 

Join the Outdoor Resource Center as we explore Kentucky’s Red River Gorge by foot and by kayak.  Saturday will be spent roaming the magnificent Auxier, Double Arch, and Star Gap Ridges with spectacular views of arches and cliffs, followed by a relaxing evening around the fire at Koomer Ridge Campground.  Sunday we trade in our hiking boots for water shoes as we paddle our kayaks through the heart of the gorge, surrounded by sandstone cliffs and giant boulders.

 

Cost: $75.00

Cost includes:  Transportation, campgrounds, food,  all kayaking and camping equipment, and ACA   certified kayak instructors.

Activity Level:  beginner-all levels welcome
