FileLocker

FileLocker is a secure file sharing application originally developed by Purdue University that allows you to securely share files with other people, both inside and outside of the university. The files are stored for a temporary amount of time (typically 30 days), and are then deleted from the system. Files are encrypted both while in storage on the system and during transfer.

Important Notes

  • FileLocker should not be used as a permanent storage solution; files will automatically expire and delete after 30 days.
  • An email message will be generated from filelocker@wright.edu and sent to the person whom you shared the file with.
  • You must log in to FileLocker with your campus "w"username and password.
  • If you are suspicious of a file that comes from FileLocker, feel free to contact the Help Desk at (937) 775-4827 before downloading it.

  1. Check the box next to 'Public Share'
  2. Enter the email addresses of the people you want to share the file with
  3. Select 'Share'

Note: Following the steps above will send a one-time link to the email addresses you entered. Once they have opened the link, they must download the document in order to review it later. If you select the 'Allow multiple downloads (requires password)?' box, they will be able to access it more than once with a password you have set. If you select 'Password protect this public share?' you will once again set a password, yet they can still only access the document once from the link they receive through email.

If you have questions about publically sharing a document through FileLocker, contact the CaTS Help Desk at (937) 775-4827,
