If you are a Yahoo! Mail user, you may experience issues with accessing your mail via the Yahoo! Mail website from on campus. Changes to Outlook Web App Appearance

If you use Outlook Web App (the online version of your Office 365 email and calendar) you’ll notice there’s a blue bar at the top of the page. On December 15, 2014, this bar will change from blue to green. It’s important to note that none of your email or calendar events will be impacted by this change.

Also, CaTS wants to make you aware of another change coming soon to your Outlook Web App. Microsoft will be changing the location of buttons that link to various services, such as Calendar, People, etc. Instead of those being on the top right, they will be moved into a grid located on the top left. Clicking on this grid provides you with a list of services available to you. Here's a screenshot of the new look with the grid highlighted in red.

Groups

Groups is a new feature that will appear soon within your Outlook Web App. A group is a shared workspace for email, conversations, files, and calendar events where group members can conveniently collaborate and quickly get stuff done. More information about Groups will come soon once the service has launched.

CTS News for the Holidays

Tuesday, December 16, 2014

Happy Holidays from CaTS and Classroom Technology Support (CTS).

As the New Year approaches, we are inclined to make our resolution once again to commit ourselves fully to the support of our campus classrooms.  Our entire staff look forward to serving the campus community in 2015.

Looking back at 2014, we would like to share some projects and achievements that CaTS has been involved with in an effort to elevate your classroom experience.
In collaboration with the Facilities Planning Department, an additional 49 whiteboards were added to 22 classrooms across campus to offer increased writing space to instructors.

CTS developed 5 document cameras mounted to mobile carts for flexibility and accessibility.  This was done in response to our faculty that wanted a way to use the document cameras while being more centrally located with their students.

CaTS and the College of Engineering & Computer Sciences worked together to create a Senior Design Project intended to allow our WSU students the opportunity to develop and design new table top podiums for the classrooms.  This year the WSU faculty selected the winning model from our top 5 student project finalists.  I am pleased to report that the design is currently being manufactured and should arrive early spring semester.

A new process for changing out the lamps in classroom video projectors has recently been developed within CaTS.  We will now be proactively changing the older lamps out before their life-span is due to expire.  We are doing this to reduce the number of unforeseen problems that arise during class time.  Thank you to those of you who offered suggestions to us.

We invite you to stop by the Classroom Features & Photos resource, link listed below, and check out our new panoramic videos of the classrooms.  CTS and Video Technology Services worked together over the summer to update this resource.   Over the winter break, CaTS will be updating all of the classroom equipment specifications in order to reflect the most up-to-date classroom information as possible for spring semester.

CaTS would like to wish you and your families a wonderful holiday season and a very Happy New Year.

Social Engineering

Monday, December 8, 2014

Social engineering is the art of people manipulating others so they will give out confidential information. When criminals are selecting targets, they try to design scams that will trick you into giving your passwords, bank information, or access to your computer (usually to install malicious software, such as viruses). Find out more information through the link below in order to protect yourself from this recent security threat.

WINGS Express Has Moved: Update Your Bookmarks!

Thursday, December 4, 2014

Please Note: If you only access WINGS Express from within WINGS, you may
disregard this message.

The WINGS Express system has been moved to a new server, and this move
may affect some users’ WINGS Express bookmarks or favorites. For direct
access to WINGS Express please use http://wingsexpress.wright.edu. Some
older bookmarks or favorites may have a different URL, which will no
longer work beginning Friday, December 5.

On this date, we strongly encourage you to test and update your WINGS
Express bookmarks. To do this, find and click any WINGS Express
bookmarks you may have. If one takes you to WINGS Express directly, then
your bookmark is good. If you are instead taken to a page that says
“WINGSEXPRESS.WRIGHT.EDU Has Moved,” your bookmark is out of date and
should be updated. The easiest way to do this is to either click on the
WINGS Express link provided on the website or visit
http://wingsexpress.wright.edu directly and bookmark that page. You can
then delete the out of date bookmark.

Also, please note that on the WINGS Express homepage, the link for
“Enter Secure Area” will soon be changed to “Log in to WINGS Express.”

If you have questions concerning this change, please contact the CaTS
Help Desk at (937) 775-4827 or toll free at 1-888-775-4827. You can also
send an email to helpdesk@wright.edu.
