Announcing Office 365 Sites

On January 26, 2015, Office 365 Sites will become publicly available to all university faculty, staff, and students. Office 365 Sites are online communities supporting university organizations, projects and other Wright State-related functions. Within these Office 365 sites/communities, you can then share files, calendars, and other important information with any other members of the site, just as you may have in the past with WINGS Group Studio.
Office 365 Sites are a great choice if you want to share information for longer periods of time. For example, you may want to create an Office 365 site for your department, college, or committee.
To browse available sites for membership, or to request your own site, simply log in to your Office 365 Outlook Web App (the online version of your email, calendar, etc.) and click on the “Sites” button on the top toolbar.

Urgent: Phishing Scam Notice for 2/11/15

The Help Desk was recently notified of an email phishing scam that
targets Wright State students, faculty, and staff. This scam, which may
have a subject line titled "(Important) changes to how you sign in with
Outlook", is created to look like an official email from Microsoft.
Within the email, you are told that changes have been made to how you
access your Outlook account, and that you need to click a "School Access
Portal" link to try out the new changes.
Please be aware that this is a scam and not an official email from
Microsoft, CaTS, or Wright State. Do not click on the links provided in
the email or give out your Office 365 username and password.

Phishing Scam Notice for 2/5/15

The CaTS Help Desk was recently notified of a “work-from-home” scam that
could potentially target Wright State students.
College students across the United States have been targeted to
participate in work-from-home scams. Students have been receiving emails
to their school accounts recruiting them for payroll and/or human
resource positions with fictitious companies. The scam requires the
student to provide his/her bank account number to receive a deposit and
then transfer a portion of the funds to another bank account. Those
funds were first stolen by cyber criminals and student are unknowingly
helping them get away with the crime.
Participating in the scam is a crime and could lead to your bank account
being closed due to fraudulent activity or federal charges.
If you have been a victim of this scam you can file a complaint with the
FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov and reference Alert
# 01132015a-PSA.
Tips:
-If a job offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
-Never accept a job that requires the depositing of funds into your
account and wiring them to different accounts.
-Look for poor use of the English language in emails such as incorrect
grammar, capitalization, and tenses. Many of the scammers who send these
messages are not native English speakers.
-Never provide credentials of any kind such as bank account information,
login names, passwords, or any other identifying information in response
to recruitment email.

Please note that this is a scam and not an official notice from Wright State University or CaTS. DO NOT fall victim to this scam by

Services Grid Now Available in Office 365 Outlook Web App

As announced in a previous message to the university, Microsoft has now updated the Office 365 Outlook Web App to include a services grid. This grid, located in the upper left corner of the Outlook Web App, provides a drop down menu list of all services available to you within Office 365.
In order to access your email, calendar or other Office 365 tools, you can click on the icon displayed in the drop-down menu. If you want to pin an icon to your toolbar, you will need to click on the three dots at the top of the icon. The pinned icon will appear on your toolbar in the upper right hand corner for one-click access.

Current Issues with Office 365 Sites Service

Currently, the Office 365 Sites service is experiencing intermittent
access issues. Users who are members or owners of an Office 365 site may
receive an error stating "Sorry, you don't have access to this page"
when attempting to visit that site. Some users have found success by
logging out and then back in to the Office 365 Sites service. Microsoft
is aware of this issue and is working on a resolution. Please direct all

Malware Downloaded from Seemingly Clean Office Documents

Bitdefender is warning Microsoft Office users of a new spam campaign that resembles a tax return, a remittance, or form of bill from a bank. The spam often carries a Microsoft Word or Excel attachment that will automatically execute a piece of malware with a macro code disguised to bypass traditional antivirus if downloaded.
