Office 365 Access Issues

Currently, Wright State's Office 365 system is experiencing intermittent
access issues. Microsoft has issued the following update concerning this
problem:

Current Status: Engineers are investigating an issue in which some
customers may be experiencing problems accessing or using Office 365
Portal services or features. This event is actively being investigated.
More information will be provided shortly.

CaTS will notify the university once Microsoft has provided an updated
status.

WINGS/Office 365 Email Access

Currently, some users who are trying to access their Wright State email
through WINGS are being prompted to sign in with their Office 365
username and password (first.lastname@wright.edu or
lastname.#@wright.edu), instead of being signed on automatically.

If you experience this issue, follow these steps:

1) Enter your Office 365 username (your WSU email address) and password.

  • If you do not remember your password, visit the WSU Accounts page and follow the 'How to Change Your Password' instructions for Office 365. Note: This password may be different than that of your "w" account.

2) Click on the "Work or School" account option.

3) Close and reopen your web browser.

4) Log in to WINGS and then click the "Email/Calendar" button. You
should now be automatically logged in to your email.

New Home Software Offers

CaTS has made some changes to our software offerings for home and personal use:

  • On September 12, the free Work at Home editions of Office for Windows and Mac will no longer be available through the Home Software Store. Microsoft Office can now be downloaded through the Office 365 Pro Plus program, which allows Faculty and Staff to install the full version of the Microsoft Office Suite on up to five laptops/desktops, five mobile devices, and five tablets. Office 365 Login Instructions

Currently, users trying to access their Wright State email through WINGS or outlook.wright.edu are being prompted to sign in. To access your email, remember to enter your Office 365 username and password (first.lastname@wright.edu or lastname.###@wright.edu).

Issues With Outlook Web App

Currently, several people using Internet Explorer 10 as their web browser are having difficulty accessing their Office 365 email. When trying to access email through WINGS, users are taken to a login window for Outlook which doesn’t allow them to sign in.

Users encountering this issue are advised to try a different browser (Firefox, Chrome) in order to access their email. For further assistance, please contact the CaTS Help Desk at helpdesk@wright.edu or (937) 775-4827.

and students.

  • Skype for Business (formerly Microsoft Lync)
  • Office 365 Online Communities

Office 365 (SharePoint) Sites Open Q&A Sessions

CaTS will be hosting several open sessions for Office 365 Sites in Room
012 Library Annex.

  • Wednesday, July 29 from 9-11 a.m.
  • Wednesday, August 5 from 1-3 p.m.
  • Tuesday, August 11 from 1-3 p.m.
  • Wednesday, August 19 from 9-11 a.m.

No registration is needed. Along with answering questions, we will cover
how to best use project, workflow and communication features in Office
365 Sites.

Microsoft Lync Now Skype for Business

Microsoft Lync will become Skype for Business on all university-owned
Windows computers connected to the Wright State network on Monday, May 18.

-Skype for Business will install automatically on your computer.

-Skype for Business combines the functionality of Lync with the Skype
interface.

-Familiar features like video chat, instant messaging, and desktop
sharing are available in Skype.

-All of your Lync contacts will be available in Skype for Business.

-Skype for Business is not yet available for Macs. Please continue to
use Microsoft Lync 2011 until further notice.
