to click on a link in order to download a voice message, and appears to
be from Outlook.

Phishing Scam Notice for 3/12/15
The Help Desk was notified of an email phishing scam today that targets
Wright State students, faculty, and staff. This scam, which may have a
subject line titled "Invitation: Attention: Hi Friend", asks you to send
your contact information to a French address. Multiple Wright State
addresses received the message.
Please be aware that this is a scam. Do not provide your information in
an email or give out your username and password.

Urgent: Phishing Scam Notice for 2/11/15
The Help Desk was recently notified of an email phishing scam that
targets Wright State students, faculty, and staff. This scam, which may
have a subject line titled "(Important) changes to how you sign in with
Outlook", is created to look like an official email from Microsoft.
Within the email, you are told that changes have been made to how you
access your Outlook account, and that you need to click a "School Access
Portal" link to try out the new changes.
Please be aware that this is a scam and not an official email from
Microsoft, CaTS, or Wright State. Do not click on the links provided in
the email or give out your Office 365 username and password.

Phishing Scam Notice for 2/5/15
The CaTS Help Desk was recently notified of a “work-from-home” scam that
could potentially target Wright State students.
College students across the United States have been targeted to
participate in work-from-home scams. Students have been receiving emails
to their school accounts recruiting them for payroll and/or human
resource positions with fictitious companies. The scam requires the
student to provide his/her bank account number to receive a deposit and
then transfer a portion of the funds to another bank account. Those
funds were first stolen by cyber criminals and student are unknowingly
helping them get away with the crime.
Participating in the scam is a crime and could lead to your bank account
being closed due to fraudulent activity or federal charges.
If you have been a victim of this scam you can file a complaint with the
FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center at www.ic3.gov and reference Alert
# 01132015a-PSA.
Tips:
-If a job offer sounds too good to be true, it probably is.
-Never accept a job that requires the depositing of funds into your
account and wiring them to different accounts.
-Look for poor use of the English language in emails such as incorrect
grammar, capitalization, and tenses. Many of the scammers who send these
messages are not native English speakers.
-Never provide credentials of any kind such as bank account information,
login names, passwords, or any other identifying information in response
to recruitment email.

Please note that this is a scam and not an official notice from Wright State University or CaTS. DO NOT fall victim to this scam by
clicking the link or entering your login information. If you do, your campus account could be used by spammers to send spam email or
steal your personal information.

Phishing Scam Notice for 1/16/15
Please be aware of the following phishing scam that is targeting J.P.
Morgan Chase customers. This text is a direct quote from a J.P. Morgan
Chase email about the issue.

J.P. Morgan has received a report of a new malicious email containing a
malware program designed to steal information and user credentials for
online banking websites. A current version of this email contains the
following details:
Subject: Payment from Chase bank
Body: You have received a payment from J.P. Morgan Chase for amount
17,841.00. Please check details attached.
Attachment: payment-0113-809.pdf.zip
Please Do Not open, click on any links, or click to download attachments
or pictures from the email.

Malware Alert
J.P. Morgan has received reports of fraudsters successfully installing
on clients' computers malware that requests that the user make multiple
log on attempts, enter token codes multiple times as part of the log on,
or asks the end user to have someone else log on from their machine.
J.P. Morgan ACCESS will never request that another user attempt to log
on from your computer.
Urgent: Phishing Scam Notice for 9/30/14
The Help Desk was recently notified of another phishing scam that target students, faculty, and staff of Wright State University. This scam tells you that you logged in to "a different device" with your email, and because of that, your account will be disabled. It then gives a link for you to click on to re-enable your account. The subject line of this message is "Login Device" or something similar.
Please be aware that this message is a scam and is NOT BEING SENT BY CaTS. You should not click on the link or reply to the email. If you do so, your information mauy be sent directly to a scammer. You should delete this message immediately.
Always remember that any email claiming to be from CaTS, Wright State University or another business which asks for your login, personal, or financial information is a definite scam. CaTS, Wright State, and other reputable businesses WILL NEVER ask you for any personal information, such as your username and password, via email. CaTS would also like to emphasize that you should never respond to these emails or click links within them, nor should you give out your personal information to anyone via email.
