Student Wireless Survey Results

Recently, CaTS sent a survey to all Wright State students about wireless connectivity on both Dayton and Lake campuses. We are continuously looking for ways to improve our services, and your feedback is crucial in helping us determine which steps to take next.

Survey Statistics

  • Surveys Completed: 834
  • Overall Satisfaction Rate of Wireless Connectivity: 68.62%

Common Themes

  • Theme: Wireless speed is too slow
Action Taken: CaTS is exploring the possibility of adding additional access points in areas that have known issues.
  • Theme: Academic buildings with the highest foot traffic experience the most connectivity issues (i.e. Student Union, Dunbar Library, Student Success Center, Millett Hall, and Rike Hall)
Action Taken: CaTS has begun to remove rogue access points connected to the Wright State network to improve wireless in all academic buildings. Dunbar Library is already complete, and you should now be seeing improvements in that area.
  • Theme: It is difficult to connect and stay connected in hallways and tunnels
Action Taken: CaTS is performing a trial beta wireless test in the tunnels between Fawcett and Medical Sciences. The test will then be expanded to other areas around campus as connectivity begins to improve.

Thank you to all who took the time to participate in this survey.
