COVID-19 update with Dawn Wooley, Ph.D., and Glen Solomon, M.D.

Do you have medical questions about COVID-19 or wonder about the science behind it? Learn from WSU faculty experts during a virtual discussion sponsored by the WSU Retirees Association on Monday, Nov. 15, 10 a.m.–noon. Join us for one or both discussions via Zoom.

Dawn Wooley, Ph.D., professor of neuroscience, cell biology and physiology, will explain the basic science of viruses in general and COVID-19 in particular from 10–11 a.m. Dr. Wooley earned her Ph.D. in Virology from Harvard University and was a postdoctoral fellow in viral vector technology at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her research interests include viral mutation, evolution of human pandemic viruses, biosafety of viral vectors in research laboratories and animals, and more.

Glen Solomon, M.D., professor and chair of internal medicine and neurology, will focus on patient care, the latest treatment options, vaccines and local patient data. Dr. Solomon earned his M.D. from Rush Medical College in Chicago. He has been on the front line in COVID-19 patient care. A COVID-19 vaccine task force was established in the Department of Internal Medicine/Neurology in December 2020 with the combined goal of educating area clinicians/health care professionals and consumers about the facts associated with COVID-19 and the newly developed vaccines.
