Wright State recognizes six nationally recognized external examination programs. Awarding of credit is based on the appropriate test scores and Wright State's established course equivalencies for each examination. Official test results must be sent to Wright State's Office of Undergraduate Admissions. Each testing organization may charge a fee for taking an examination.
Advanced Placement (AP)
AP tests are taken in high school. AP scores of 3 or better are considered passing, and you will receive college credit. An AP score of 4 or better in certain areas is recommended for students pursuing a major in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

College-Level Examination Program (CLEP)
Wright State accepts College-Level Examination Program (CLEP) exams based on established minimum scores and course equivalencies.

To find a testing site, visit the College Board CLEP website. Request your official scores be sent to Wright State's Office of Undergraduate Admissions with the College Board transcript request form.
International Baccalaureate (IB)
Wright State awards credit for International Baccalaureate (IB) examinations. Students with IB courses in Spanish, French, or German are encouraged to complete departmental examinations for credit and placement.

Note: Wright State will not award credit in a foreign language to a student based only on IB examination scores.
Note: Credit will not be awarded for the IB World History exam. The history department has concluded that Wright State does not have a comparable course.
DANTES Standardized Subject Tests (DSST)
If you're in the military, you can earn college credit through the DANTES (Defense Activity for Non-Traditional Education Support) program. Academic departments at Wright State determine how credit will be awarded for DSST exams.

Cambridge International AS & A Levels
Wright State recognizes some Cambridge International AS & A Level examinations. Cambridge International Education is part of the University of Cambridge. Academic departments at Wright State determine how credit will be awarded for AS & A Level assessments.
