Award Descriptions

Below are the descriptions of the individual and student organization awards. Please review the criteria before submitting your nomination form(s) on OrgSync.

Nominations are now open and will close on Friday, March 9, 2018, at 5:00 pm.

Emerging Student Leader Awards

This award will be given to any freshman who has shown exemplary leadership qualities over the last academic year through student organizations, service to the community, scholarship or commitment to the advancement of the mission and goals of Wright State University. 

Open To: Any freshman who has shown great potential and advancement in their leadership skills as a new student at Wright State University. Individual must complete (0-29) credit hours by the end of the Fall 2017 semester. 

Established Student Leader Awards

This award will be given to any sophomore who has shown exemplary leadership qualities over the last academic year through student organizations, service to the community, scholarship or commitment to the advancement of the mission and goals of Wright State University. 

Open To: Any sophomore who demonstrates progressive leadership responsibility in a student organization, campus department, or office. Individual must complete (30-59) credit hours by the end of the Fall 2017 semester.

Advanced Student Leader Awards

This award will be given to any junior who has shown exemplary leadership qualities over the last academic year through student organizations, service to the community, scholarship or commitment to the advancement of the mission and goals of Wright State University. 

Open To: Any junior who demonstrates progressive leadership responsibility in a student organization, campus department, or office. Individual must complete (60-89) credit hours by the end of the Fall 2017 semester.

Senior Student Leader Awards

This award will be given to any student graduating who has shown exemplary leadership qualities over the last academic year through student organizations, service to the community, scholarship or commitment to the advancement of the mission and goals of Wright State University. 

Open To: Any student graduating during the 2017-2018 academic year (May 2018 or December 2017), and demonstrates progressive leadership responsibility in a student organization, campus department, or office.  Individual must complete (90+) credit hours by the end of the Fall 2017 semester.

Distinguished Graduate Student Award

This award is given to a specific graduate student who has shown exemplary leadership qualities over the last academic year through student organizations, service to the community, scholarship or commitment to the advancement of the mission and goals of Wright State University.

Open To: Any graduate student who has demonstrated leadership skills and responsibility in a student organization, campus department, or office.

Advisor of the Year Award

This award is given to an advisor of a recognized student organization who has gone above the minimum requirements of an advisor.  This person has been a role model, student support source, and a guiding individual for student leadership.  Please provide specific examples as to how they have been dedicated to providing advice, support, and encouragement for their student organization in implementing goals and the mission of the group.

Open To: Any advisor of a recognized student organization.

Student Organization Collaboration Award

This award will be given to an organization that has demonstrated outstanding initiatives through a commitment to collaborative programming, financial stewardship, and community outreach.  Articulate the significant contributions the organization has made to Wright State University and the community as a direct result of their collaborative initiatives. Please include any events, service activities, or programs that the organization has coordinated.

Open To: Any recognized student organization by the Office of Student Activities.

Student Organization Diversity Award

This award will be given to an organization that has demonstrated a commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion and transformation initiatives for Wright State University and the community. Articulate the significant contributions the organization has made to Wright State University and the community in an effort to support being more responsive to the needs of underrepresented and underserved student populations.

Open To: Any recognized student organization by the Office of Student Activities.

Student Organization Innovation Award

This award will be given to a student organization that has a demonstrated record of excellence in creating improvements to the quality of life for students on campus.  Please include specific examples of the significant contributions and how you believe the organization has improved student life at Wright State University.

Open To: Any recognized student organization by the Office of Student Activities.

Student Organization Community Service Award

This award will be given to an organization that has a demonstrated commitment to the betterment of the community through outreach, programming, education or volunteerism in the greater Dayton area.  Please highlight what significant contributions the organization has made to greater Dayton community.

Open To: Any recognized student organization by the Office of Student Activities.
