With funding from the National Science Foundation, Research on Disabilities in Education researchers Eileen Trauth (Penn State University) and K.D. Joshi (Washington State University) have conducted a survey of a very important population of persons with disabilities: military service members and veterans. The purpose of this survey was to understand barriers affecting information technology (IT) career choice for persons who have acquired disabilities through military service. The results of this survey will add to the body of knowledge about issues affecting underrepresented individuals in the IT field. The results will also enable educators and counselors to better advise service members and veterans. In her presentation Dr. Trauth will discuss the findings from this study overall and provide with respect to Wright State respondents. Following her formal remarks there will be an open discussion with the audience.
