The Physics seminar this week will meet online on Thursday, February 10, at 1:00 pm . You can join us live at this link: https://us.bbcollab.com/guest/4a2dc489c4ad41729b116a7907adf865
The talk this week will be by Dr. Yann LeCun (pre-recorded). The talk was originally presented in 2018 when he was one of three awardees of the Turing Award and is titled "The Deep Learning Revolution: The Sequel." LeCun is well known for his work on optical character recognition and computer vision using convolutional neural networks. This talk is "the sequel" to last week's lecture and was originally presented in tandem with that lecture.
LeCun shared the 2018 award with two others in recognition of their advances to the field of machine learning. LeCun's award was "for conceptual and engineering breakthroughs that have made deep neural networks a critical component of computing."
