The talk this week will be by Climate scientist and Nobel laureate Dr. Jonathan Overpeck (pre-recorded).  The talk was originally presented in 2021 when Dr. Overpeck was presenting the Willeke lecture at Miami University of Ohio.  

 

The talk is titled, “Climate Change Hydroclimate and Aridification of North America."

 

Miami University profiled Dr. Overpeck as follows:

Overpeck was a Working Group Lead Author for both the Nobel Prize-winning International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 4th Assessment in 2007 and the IPCC 5th Assessment in 2014.

He has led climate research programs on five continents investigating climate and paleoclimate dynamics, ice sheets and sea level, climate-vegetation interaction, drought and mega­drought dynamics.

He also works on regional climate adaptation, conservation biology, legal issues related to climate change, environmental communication and environmental education. 

He has testified before Congress multiple times, and is a Fellow of the American Geophysical Union and the American Association for the Advancement of Science.
