The 19th International Symposium in Aviation Psychology will be hosted at Wright State University in Dayton, Ohio on May 8-11, 2017. The symposium is offered for the purposes of: (a) presenting the latest research on human performance problems and opportunities within aviation systems; (b) envisioning design solutions that best utilize human capabilities for creating safe and efficient aviation systems; and (c) bringing together scientists, research sponsors, and operators in an effort to bridge the gap between research and application. The topics covered include research on cognition, perception, communication, neuroscience, ecological psychology, spatial orientation, decision making, and human error. These topics are studied in the context of cognitive systems, trust in automation, display and visualization, human-machine interfaces, training and simulation, personnel selection, organic and robotic team interaction, sociotechnical systems, and accident investigation, as applied to the many aspects of the aviation system that spans the ground, sky, and space.

The symposium strives to facilitate interdisciplinary interactions among experts and students from diverse fields that include aviation, psychology, neuroscience, engineering, computer science, and aerospace medicine. This is an international conference drawing participants from academic, government, and industrial organizations from around the world.
