Presenters: Tina Warnecke and John Aidoo

Company and industry: Central Insurance, an Ohio-based property and casualty insurance group of companies founded in 1876.

Tina and John are both Raiders who will describe their career paths, talk about the work they do at Central Insurance, share opportunities available through Central Insurance’s internship program, and answer your questions about how to prepare yourselves for a successful career in actuarial science and related fields after graduation.

Bio Sketch:

Tina Warnecke is an Actuary with nearly two decades of experience in the insurance industry. She currently leads the Actuarial Reserving and Corporate Reporting Team at Central Mutual Insurance in Van Wert, Ohio. Tina obtained her Bachelor Degree in Mathematics from Wright State University in 2003.  She has earned her Fellowship of the Casualty Actuary Society (FCAS).  Tina is passionate about the insurance industry and holds four insurance designations. She currently resides in Fort Jennings, Ohio with her husband and daughter. In her spare time, Tina enjoys sharing her love of mathematics by tutoring local high school students and also volunteers with the Junior Achievement program at a local high school. She enjoys water skiing and boating with her family in the summer months and axe-throwing when she finds time.

John Aidoo is a data scientist with a decade of experience in the tech, marketing, and insurance industries. He currently leads a team of nine data scientists at Central Mutual Insurance in Van Wert, Ohio, where they work on various data science initiatives in pricing, marketing, and underwriting. He obtained his Master in Applied Statistics from Wright State University in 2010. He is passionate about open source tools and is an active participant within the R user community. He currently resides in Troy, Ohio with his wife and two children. John is an avid sports fan and a coder. In his spare time, he likes to root for his favorite professional sport teams.
