HOW I PASSED 5 ACTUARIAL EXAMS IN 2 YEARS AS AN ENGINEERING MAJOR:

EXAM & INTERNSHIP ADVICE FOR ASPIRING ACTUARIES!

Presenter:  Brady Meers

University and company: Wright State University and Ameritas

Brady has fallen in love with the actuarial career path after stumbling on it by coincidence and he wants to share his story with you!

Bio Sketch:

Brady Meers is a Junior Industrial and Systems Engineering major here at Wright State University.

Over the past two years, Brady has dived headfirst into the field of actuarial science, passing five actuarial exams and getting the opportunity to learn more about the field on the job as an intern at Ameritas.

Last summer and throughout this school year, Brady has worked as an Actuarial Intern in the Reinsurance Department at Ameritas Life Insurance Corp, where he learned about the importance of reinsurance in the life insurance industry. He is most proud of the automated assignment system he developed, which flags and assigns policies with reinsurance changes that need physical attention by an administrator.

Brady is also heavily involved on campus. Since his freshman year, he has helped teach numerous courses in the chemistry department. Starting his journey as a learning assistant, he eventually worked his way up to becoming a teaching assistant for these courses. This has sparked his passion for making STEM classes less daunting and more approachable for incoming students. This semester, he helps teach CHM 1010 (Introduction to Chemistry) and has begun teaching EE 2010L (Analog Circuit Theory Lab).
