His lifetime motto was to make a positive difference and leave each assignment a better place to live and work for those he served. He died Oct. 10, 2021.

Alan Klein took pride in serving as a clinical faculty member at the Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine from 1975 to present. He will be missed and remembered for his wonderfully dry sense of humor, his contagious laughter, his diagnostic sense, and his honest and calm demeanor. He died Oct. 5, 2021.

Melvyn D. Goldfinger, 74, of Dayton, died on Friday, Sept. 17. Mel Goldfinger was a champion for academic freedom, shared governance, and the economic security of the faculty – the three bedrock principles of the American Association of University Professors.

Jim Jacob was brilliant, funny, and an eternal optimist. He was passionate about teaching, reading, continuous learning, collecting, travel, good food, and the pursuit of the next adventure. To his students, he unstintingly offered his time and energy. He died on Sept. 16, 2021.

Jim was a professor of Environmental Science at Wright State University, developing the program for WSU. He worked for the State of Ohio in Public Health and helped develop and expand the program that established the appointment for health commissioners for each county in the State of Ohio. He died on Sept. 12, 2021.
James Miller Gallagher

From 1986 to 1995, he served as the director of the Center for Executive Development and Project Management at the Wright State University Raj Soin College of Business, where he developed, marketed and participated in the presentation of executive development programs. He passed away on Sept. 3, 2021, at Hospice of Dayton.
Herman Waggener

Alf flew 53 combat missions over Western Europe in 1944 including nine hours flying cover for bombers over the Normandy coast on D-Day. He was awarded several military decorations, including the Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medals, Army and Air Force commendation medals and a D-Day medal. He died on August 17, 2021.
