Gordon Wise

In 2019 Gordie was inducted into the Wright State University Athletic Hall of Fame. He was “present at/before the creation” of the athletic program at WSU, having served on the original committee that studied, and recommended, the creation of an athletic program. He drafted the original constitution for an Athletic Council, was the first chair of that Council, served on the Council for 21 years, and served as the WSU “Faculty Athletic Representative” to the NCAA for 19 years.

Karen Laycok retired after 17 years as the business manager at the Wright State University College of Science and Mathematics.
Marc Low

Science education and environmental science programs were two projects that Marc initiated and was proud to be a part of. It was often said that Marc Low "knew everything" and "knew where the bodies were buried." The truth is, Marc's service as dean was marked by wisdom, fiscal responsibility, and fairness. He died on August 16, 2022..
Dan DeStephen

Dan was an avid Cleveland Browns fan and loved science fiction, Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, watching Marvel superhero movies, traveling, especially to Europe and New Orleans, and enjoying great food and drinking fine wine. He was funny, kind, gracious, humble, and generous with his time and attention when it came to family, friends, and colleagues. He died on August 1, 2022.
Joan Donohue

Joan was a retired administrative assistant at Wright-Patterson AFB and Wright State University and was also a licensed real estate professional in the Dayton area. Joan enjoyed gardening, water aerobics and especially spending time with her grandchildren and attending their sporting events. She died on July 29, 2022.

Raymond L. Must, 93, was an original member of Wright State University’s Art Department faculty and co-founder of the Dayton Printmakers Cooperative. He died July 22, 2022.
Carol Nathanson

Carol Nathanson served on the boards of trustees of the Dayton Visual Arts Center, the Springfield (Ohio) Museum of Art, the Midwest Art History Society, and the Great Lakes American Studies Association. She had been a member of the Dayton Art Institute's Exhibitions and Education Committee, chaired Dayton's Public Arts Commission and the Springfield Museum's Curatorial Affairs Committee, and was a longtime member of Dayton's Landmarks Commission. She died on July 21, 2022.

Robert was instrumental in founding the burn unit at Miami Valley Hospital. He was a teacher and mentor for countless medical students and surgical residents. Upon retirement he volunteered his services overseas in various settings including Jamaica, American Samoa, Kenya, and Rwanda. He is most remembered for more than 10 years of volunteer service at Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital in Hangzhou, China, where he helped build a surgical residency program modeled after that at Wright State University. He died on July 15, 2022.
Connie Heaton

Connie enjoyed using her grit and determination to help the local community. She was involved with the Lioness Club, the Waynesville Progressive Women's Club, the school PTA, Southview Hospital volunteers, Sunday and Tuesday Schools, and as the Sugarcreek Post editor, as well as special projects like forming the Bellbrook elementary school library, directing school and church plays, and starting the Crossview Christian Church's ice cream social. She died on July 3, 2022.
Dr. Steven Cohen

Steve Cohen devoted 30 years to serving US veterans at the Dayton VA Medical Center. He held the position of Chief of Ambulatory Care, Chief of Staff, and the Director of VAMC. He enjoyed teaching and was a member of the admissions committee of the Boonshoft School of Medicine at Wright State University for many years. He died on June 25, 2022.
