Willard “Will” Hutzel, 85, of Dayton, passed away peacefully on Oct. 20, 2022. He was born on March 19, 1937. to the late Miriam (Spinks) and Henry Hutzel Sr. in Dayton, Ohio. Will retired from his position as provost and executive vice president at Wright State University after 30 years. Will enjoyed traveling with his wife, Jean. They visited nearly all 50 states and toured Italy. In his spare time, Will enjoyed flower gardening. He was very proud of his children and would often talk about them.
Will is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Jean (Robinette) Hutzel; children, Eric (Mary) Hutzel, Kirk Hutzel, Diana Hauck, Donna (Doug) Burns; grandchildren, Ryan (Mary Beth), Jason (Stephanie), Matthew (Chelsey), Evan, Will Thomas; great-grandchildren and nieces, Barbara (Jim), Katie (Graeme), Pam, Brenda, Patty; nephews, Mark, Tony; and numerous other relatives, friends, and neighbors who have always been there for the family. In addition to his parents, Will was preceded in death by his brothers: Henry (Anita) and Joseph; niece, Shirley; nephew, Henry Michael.
The family will not be having services for Will at this time. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Dayton for the tremendous care and hospitality they continuously showed Will and his family.
