summer on campus

Dear Colleagues,

I am writing to inform you that Bob Hickey, associate vice president for public affairs, will retire on June 30 after more than two decades of service with Wright State University.

Mr. Hickey joined Wright State in 1999, following 25 years of practicing law, including serving five terms in the Ohio House of Representatives.

Mr. Hickey served as Wright State's liaison to neighboring communities and as an advocate to local, state, and federal governments. He has worked with four university presidents, advising on state and national legislative issues.

Early in his career at Wright State, he played a key role advising administrators and trustees about tobacco settlement funds. He has worked closely with Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, coordinating annual visits by university leaders on the base; organizing the U.S. Air Force/WSU 5K Race on our campus; and supporting the Air Force Marathon and other races.

Mr. Hickey collaborated with leaders in Beavercreek and at Clark State Community College on naming on the bridge crossing I-675. He has represented the university on the Fairborn Chamber of Commerce board and fostered important relationships with the Fairborn and Beavercreek communities, including organizing Fairborn Night at a Wright State men's basketball game.

He also served as an adjunct faculty member at the Boonshoft School of Medicine, teaching health care public policy.

He will continue to volunteer to coordinate the Air Force Marathon 5K that runs through our Dayton Campus.

Please join me in thanking Bob for his dedication to Wright State University and congratulating him on his retirement.

Best wishes,

Sue
