Dear Colleagues,

As Wright State is committed to serving the region, we would like to encourage all university employees to join us for our We Serve U Day of organized community service.

During We Serve U Day, Wright State University employees can spend half of the workday helping others in our community without using leave time. We invite Wright State staff and faculty to participate in We Serve U Day, the university's day of service, on Wednesday, March 1.

The March 1 service day includes volunteer opportunities at the Ronald McDonald House, Crayons to Classrooms, The Foodbank, 4 Paws for Ability, and the Wright State Office of Admissions. Half-day morning and afternoon shifts will be available. Community service activities are under development at Lake Campus and more information will be forthcoming.

Those interested in volunteering should visit the We Serve U website to register and learn the details about each volunteer opportunity. The number of volunteers for each location/time slot is limited so availability is given on a first-come-first-served basis.

Employees need approval from their supervisor to volunteer and must sign in at their selected service event. Supervisors are encouraged to allow employees to participate in We Serve U Day. Full-time employees or part-time employees (51 percent or greater) are eligible to participate.

We Serve U Day provides Wright State employees an opportunity to collectively give back to the community in a coordinated effort. It allows faculty and staff to give their time and talents to help those in need. But there is an added benefit of participating in We Serve U Day. The day provides faculty and staff a chance to meet, interact, and form bonds with other Wright State employees.

If you have questions about We Serve U Day, contact co-chairs Joanie Hendricks at joanie.hendricks@wright.edu or 937-775-3427 or Becky Traxler at rebecca.traxler@wright.edu or 937-775-7032.

Best wishes,

Sue
