Dear Colleagues,

We begin this Fall Semester with a hopeful sense of renewed stability. Following several years of challenges and changes, most recently the upending of our university model by a global pandemic, we are ready and excited to channel our experiences and energy toward charting our future.

Our plan for the university remains focused on Recruitment, Retention, and Relationships. It is now time to further frame and formalize those key objectives. The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted institutions of higher education across the nation and has impacted us locally as a university community in ways we never imagined over the past two years, and as a result, we will be implementing a two-year bridging strategic plan focusing on supporting the 3 Rs. This plan will have as its foundation many of the objectives that were identified during the campus-wide 2018–19 Strategic Planning sessions.

We will focus our work through the bridge plan to ultimately determine what the post-COVID Wright State University will be. Those data points will serve as guides to the development of a new five-year strategic planning process that will begin in the fall of 2023.

Working groups of faculty, staff, and students have been tasked with identifying and defining actions and initiatives that support the university in meeting its objectives over the next two years. This work will take place over the course of the Fall 2022 Semester and will include campus listening sessions for each objective during which campus community members will be able to share their ideas and provide feedback.

You can view the list of working group members on Wright State’s Strategic Plan webpage, and more information on progress and listening session opportunities will be added throughout the semester.

Best wishes,

Sue
