Perusall is a social annotation tool for reading assignments that integrates with Pilot seamlessly. It allows students and faculty to collaboratively markup PDF documents or digital textbooks. Instead of reading a document and discussing it, Perusall brings the discussion to the text.

Perusall is an External Learning Tool you can incorporate into your course and learning strategy. It’s an online social learning platform for annotating text, video, and audio content – motivating students to ask questions, share insights, and build a learning community.
How do I set up my course?
Perusall has a wealth of information on setup and management of your course. It can be used in your Pilot course or independently from their website.

What can I do in my Perusall account?
From your account you can:
- Create a course, workshop, organize a book or journal club
- Join Perusall
- Join a Course
- Access your existing courses, both previous and new

How do I add the Perusall LTI to my Pilot course?

How do I sync my Perusall grades to my Pilot course?
If you are using the Perusall LTI in your Pilot course, you can sync the Perusall gradebook to your Pilot course gradebook.
- In Perusall, release scores to students.
- Send scores to Pilot. There are a number of ways to do that but the most common is to have the individual assignment score sync happen automatically. In Perusall, Go to Settings > Scoring > General > Release scores to students.

How do I create an assignment?
- From the Content section in your Perusall course, select Assignments
- Select the Add assignment icon.

- Select the type of assignment you want to create.

- From there, each type of assignment has specific fields to fill in. Follow the prompts to complete it.
