The Bolinga Backpack to Briefcase Alumni Speaker Series will showcase our WSU Black Alumni to help students transition from the classroom to a career. "Who Are We & What Does It Mean to You?" A Conversation with Abdul Shakur Ahmad is the first in the series. Abdul Shakur Ahmad, known as Rick Martin when he played for the Raiders in the mid-70's, was one of the early greats of Wright State basketball. When he ended his playing career in 1976, he was third all-time in career points with 1,182, the all-time leader with 352 assists, 99 games, 261 steals and dished out the most assists in a game with 10. The Middletown native also held the record for the most field goals in a row with 11. He was a three-time Raider Award winner, co-MVP in 1976, and two-time captain as he helped the Raiders to the school's first ever NCAA tournament appearance in 1976.
