International Baccalaureate (IB) is a world-wide, recognized curriculum taught in 6,812 programs across 5,175 schools in 157 countries –  IB is delivered across 4 programs:  Primary Years, Middle Years, Diploma, and Career-Related.  IB is one of five external exams accepted for Prior Learning Assessment (PLA) at Wright State University and is often compared to Advanced Placement (AP) in its rigor and quality.  Locally, Fairmont and Springfield high schools teach IB courses in the Diploma program.  IB tests are scored 1-7, with 7 being the highest score.  The IB courses are taught as Standard Level (SL) and High Level (HL).  International and US students have taken IB courses and completed the tests needed for college credit, yet Wright State University has been limited in its acceptance of IB scores on both the SL and HL tests

Bisma Sheikh, Development Associate for International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO), will be on Wright State’s Campus on October 11, 2019 to provide two presentations on how universities have developed transfer policies for IB test scores.  The first presentation will be from 10-11 in Millett 244.  The second presentation will be from 1:30-2:30 in the Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL).  Ms. Sheikh is also available for individual appointments during the day.

Contact Regina Klotz at with registration questions.  Contact Carl Brun at to schedule an appointment with Ms. Sheikh.  This is a great opportunity to update our IB transfer equivalencies and attract students who have taken courses in this rigorous program.
