Led by Carl Brun, Ph.D., Assistant Vice President, Curricular Programs.  General Education is an essential component of every undergraduate degree program.  What is the national research on the impact of General Education?  What are the most effective General Education models?  What principles should underlie General Education?  The answers to these questions are the focus of an Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) Oversight Committee on General Education, which was initiated in May, 2017.  The WSU General Education Academy will meet on a regular basis to analyze and discuss the materials driving the ODHE oversight committee and generate pedagogical principles that can enhance the WSU Core.  The General Education Academy discussions will be facilitated by Dr. Carl Brun, Coordinator of the WSU Core.  The Academy will meet bimonthly in the Fall 2018, beginning with an overview of the ODHE General Education initiative during the first meeting.  Faculty from all disciplines are encouraged to participate.
