Led by Greg Asman, Instructional Designer, CTL.  This overview session provides faculty with ways to use clickers or polling software to get their students more actively involved in their classroom and engaged with both the content of the course as well as their peers in the classroom while also enabling them to easily assess students’ current knowledge and provide them immediate feedback on their current level of understanding. Strategies covered include assessing background knowledge and current understanding, informal questioning, discussion starters, competitive and gamified activities as well as more traditional quizzing of students. All of the strategies can be implemented with TurningPoint clickers and their ResponseWare virtual clickers that are supported by the university as well as by many other virtual clicker/polling tools.
