Federal Exit Loan Counseling
According to our records, you have met one of the following criteria and are required to complete Exit Loan Counseling.
- Applied for graduation;
- Dropped to less than half time enrollment for a term;
- Withdrawn from classes for a term; or
- Did not enroll for a term
You will need your Department of Education FSA ID username and password to access your Exit Loan Counseling information on StudentAid.gov.
In order to qualify for an in-school deferment of your Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized and/or Federal Direct PLUS Loan(s), you must be enrolled at least half time at a Title IV eligible institution. As a Federal Direct Subsidized/Unsubsidized and/or Federal Direct PLUS Loan borrower you will need to make decisions about how to manage your student loan debt. You are responsible for paying back your student loan(s), even if you did not finish your degree.
Reviewing the Direct Loan Exit Counseling Guide and completing Exit Loan Counseling can help you determine what repayment plan is right for you and help you understand your rights and responsibilities as a borrower. You can also contact your Student Loan Servicer to discuss payment options including deferment and forbearance. Your Student Loan Servicer is the company that handles the repayment of your student loan(s).Visit StudentAid.gov to determine your Student Loan Servicer and review your total federal student loan debt.
We realize that you may have re-enrolled, are planning on re-enrolling, or are currently enrolled at Wright State University. Since you have previously received student loan(s), and at one point met one of the criteria above, we are required to request that you complete Exit Loan Counseling. If you are currently enrolled half time at Wright State University or have transferred to another school, please contact your Student Loan Servicer(s) to determine your in-school deferment status.
