Veterans bring leadership, discipline, and resilience to our campus community, but many also carry invisible battles that are not always easy to recognize. This training will help participants better understand veteran culture, trauma, PTSD, moral injury, depression, and the unique challenges many veterans face after military service. Participants will learn how trauma can affect behavior, decision-making, and overall well-being. The session will also explore warning signs of crisis and suicide risk, while introducing practical ways to respond and support veterans in need. Attendees will become familiar with important resources including the Veteran Crisis Line, 988 support services, and VA tools designed to help veterans find support and stability.
We will be led by Social Worker Carrie Wolf from the Dayton VA Medical Center.
