Paintings and Drawings of Donald Beal and Anthony Fisher at Wright State University

January 22–March 4, 2012

From January 22 – March 4, 2012 the Robert and Elaine Stein Galleries will present work by painters Donald Beal and Anthony Fisher. The exhibition will feature Beal’s deeply colored and layered landscapes, and Fisher’s expressive exploration of the human head and portraiture. Diane Fitch, Professor Emeritus at Wright State University is curating the exhibition.

Donald Beal was born in Syracuse, New York, and he received his BFA from the Swain School of Design in New Bedford, Massachusetts in 1981. He then went on to earn his MFA from the Parsons School of Design in 1983. His work is in a number of collections and has been exhibited in solo and group shows across the United States, including New York City, NY, Provincetown, MA, and New Bedford, MA. 

Anthony Fisher was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and received his BFA from Carnegie-Mellon University in 1982. He then went on to earn his MFA from the Yale University School of Art in 1986. His work is also in a number of collections and has been exhibited in solo and group shows across the United States, including shows in New York City, NY, Boston, MA, and Providence, RI. 

Both painters currently teach art at the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. 

On Sunday, January 22, 2012 the artists will present a free gallery talk at 3:00 P.M. in the Stein Galleries, with a reception to follow until 5:30 P.M. The exhibition is made possible with support by the Ohio Arts Council, the Friends and Members of the Galleries, and the Wright State University College of Liberal Arts. 

Gallery hours are Wednesday and Friday 10:00am to 4:00pm, Thursday 10:00am to 7:00pm, and Saturday and Sunday 12:00pm to 4:00 pm. All visitor parking areas on campus are free, and parking at the Creative Arts Center is unrestricted after 4:00 P.M. Fridays and weekends. A dedicated parking space for galleries patrons is available during school hours. All Galleries events are free and open to the public.
