WSURaiders.com: Raiders win big on the road at Green Bay

The Wright State women's basketball team returned to the win column Monday night, on the road, as the defeated the Green Bay Phoenix 70-58 on the second official day of Horizon League Action.

With the win, Wright State improves to 6-7 overall and 1-1 in Horizon League play, while Green Bay falls to 6-8 overall and 1-1 in HL action. Following a nearly two month road trip, the Raiders will return home for much of January and will welcome Cleveland State to the Nutter Center on January 2.

After nearly two minutes of scoreless action following the opening tip, Wright State was first on the score board. With just 1:38 left to play in the first quarter, the Raiders were up eight on the hosts and a free throw as the clock expired improved that lead to nine.

Green Bay wasn't done just yet as they fought back to make it a one point game at halftime with the score line reading 24-23, Wright State. The third quarter was much of the same, a back and forth battle before the Raiders would pull ahead and remain in the lead for the rest of the contest.

Sophomore Angel Baker led the scoring efforts for the raiders with 25 points in what would be her 10th consecutive double-figure game for the Raiders. Baker finished the contest shooting 9-for-23 from the field, 5-for-8 from beyond the arc, 2-for-2 from the free throw line and pulled down six total rebounds. Senior Michal Miller also had a double-digit evening as she added 19 points for the Raiders going 5-for-17 from the field, 2-for-10 from three point range and 7-for-8 at the free throw line; pulling down two rebounds and providing two assists.

Wright State shot 37.5 percent for the game, while Green Bay converted on just 29.8 percent of their shots. Both teams saw nine shots beyond the arc go in. Wright State finished the night shooting 72.2 percent (13-for-18) from the free throw line while Green Bay connected on 13 of their 19 such opportunities (75.0percent).

The Raiders won the battle on the boards, out rebounding the Phoenix 44-37 overall with 16 offensive rebounds and 28 defensive. Green Bay finished the night with 12 offensive and 25 defensive rebounds.
