Hazing

Wright State University is committed to promoting a safe and healthy campus environment and cultivating a culture that fosters respect for the dignity and rights of all its members. The University does not tolerate hazing activities by any member of the community, including students, student organizations (as defined in university policy), staff, and faculty. All members of the Wright State community are required to review and comply with the University's hazing policy. Definition of Hazing

Section 2903.31 of the Ohio Revised Code defines "hazing" as "doing any act or coercing another, including the victim, to do any act of initiation into any student or other organization or any act to continue or reinstate membership in or affiliation with any student or other organization that causes or creates a substantial risk of causing mental or physical harm to any person, including coercing another to consume alcohol or a drug of abuse, as defined in Section 3719.011 of the Revised Code".

How to Report Hazing

Members of the Wright State community may report incidents of hazing in one of the following ways:

  1. Office of Community Standards and Student Conduct (OCS)
  2. Department of Public Safety (DPS)

Student Organization Hazing Violation Report

Pursuant to O.R.C. 2903.31 and the Stop Campus Hazing Act of 2024 (SCHA), Wright State University maintains a Hazing webpage that documents violations of the University's hazing policy by student organizations for the current academic year and the previous five academic years. The Student Organization Hazing Violation Report is updated by the University twice a year.
