Hung Kings Commemoration Ceremony
The Hung Kings Commemoration Ceremony is a traditional Vietnamese event that honors the Hung Kings, the legendary founders of Vietnam. It is held annually on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month.
This ceremony is an important cultural and spiritual occasion where people express gratitude and respect to their ancestors. The main celebration takes place at the Hung Temple (Đền Hùng) in Phu Tho Province, but it is also observed by Vietnamese communities worldwide.
Typical activities include:

  • Offering incense and traditional food (such as bánh chưng and bánh giầy)
  • Processions and ceremonial rituals
  • Cultural performances, music, and folk games

The event reflects the Vietnamese values of remembering one’s roots, unity, and national pride. It is also a public holiday in Vietnam, allowing people to participate in the celebration and pay tribute to their heritage.
