Wear denim on Wednesday, April 22 in honor of Denim Day! Denim Day is a world-wide campaign to support survivors by bringing awareness to the harmful behaviors and attitudes surrounding sexual violence. The campaign began after a ruling by an Italian Supreme Court to overturn a rape conviction because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans, she must have helped the person who raped her removed them, thereby implying consent. Following the reversal, the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the survivor.
Actual Denim Day in 2026 is April 29, but Wright State is celebrating prior to finals week. The event will feature food, a t-shirt display of previous and current survivors, and button making. Wear denim and stop by the event to show your support and help break the stigma.
