Prerequisite Overview

What is a prerequisite?

Prerequisite requirements are related to test scores or other course(s) which must be completed to be eligible to take the course
Current enrollment in a prerequisite course satisfies the prerequisite requirement for a future semester registration (you must pass current semester prerequisite course to avoid being dropped from the future semester)

Who is impacted?

Students who have not fulfilled prerequisite requirements
Students encountering a Prerequisite Restriction error when trying to register
Students whose related transfer credits have not been posted and evaluated
Students taking the prerequisite in the same semester (e.g., A/B term sequence)
Non-degree and second-degree seeking students

What should you do?

Request an override (see below How to request an override)
- Supporting documentation will be required, demonstrating that requirements have been met or you are registered for the prerequisite in the same semester (e.g., A/B term sequence)
- Requests are subject to college/departmental approval

If you are able to register (e.g., prerequisite is department-managed, not system-enforced) and have not fulfilled the requirements (or provided documentation thereof), you will be required to drop the course if you do not obtain the appropriate approval/override. How to View Course Prerequisites

1. Login to WINGS
2. Click on the Student Academics Tile
3. Open Course Registration from your Profile
4. Enter Search Criteria
5. Click on the Course Title in the Search Results to open the pop-up
6. Select the Prerequisite section to view the information
