Social Engineering

Monday, December 8, 2014

Social engineering is the art of people manipulating others so they will give out confidential information. When criminals are selecting targets, they try to design scams that will trick you into giving your passwords, bank information, or access to your computer (usually to install malicious software, such as viruses). Find out more information through the link below in order to protect yourself from this recent security threat.

WINGS Express Has Moved: Update Your Bookmarks!

Thursday, December 4, 2014

Please Note: If you only access WINGS Express from within WINGS, you may
disregard this message.

The WINGS Express system has been moved to a new server, and this move
may affect some users’ WINGS Express bookmarks or favorites. For direct
access to WINGS Express please use http://wingsexpress.wright.edu. Some
older bookmarks or favorites may have a different URL, which will no
longer work beginning Friday, December 5.

On this date, we strongly encourage you to test and update your WINGS
Express bookmarks. To do this, find and click any WINGS Express
bookmarks you may have. If one takes you to WINGS Express directly, then
your bookmark is good. If you are instead taken to a page that says
“WINGSEXPRESS.WRIGHT.EDU Has Moved,” your bookmark is out of date and
should be updated. The easiest way to do this is to either click on the
WINGS Express link provided on the website or visit
http://wingsexpress.wright.edu directly and bookmark that page. You can
then delete the out of date bookmark.

Also, please note that on the WINGS Express homepage, the link for
“Enter Secure Area” will soon be changed to “Log in to WINGS Express.”

If you have questions concerning this change, please contact the CaTS
Help Desk at (937) 775-4827 or toll free at 1-888-775-4827. You can also
send an email to helpdesk@wright.edu.

Upcoming Changes to Your Office 365 Account

Wednesday, December 3, 2014

Changes are coming to your Wright State Office 365 account! Here's a brief overview of what you'll learn about in this message. If you have questions about any of these topics, please contact the CaTS Help Desk at (937) 775-4827, or toll free at 1-888-775-4827.

1) Changes to Outlook Web App Appearance

2) Groups

------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Changes to Outlook Web App Appearance

If you use Outlook Web App (the online version of your Office 365 email and calendar) you’ll notice there’s a blue bar at the top of the page. On December 15, 2014, this bar will change from blue to green. It’s important to note that none of your email or calendar events will be impacted by this change.

Also, CaTS wants to make you aware of another change coming soon to your Outlook Web App. Microsoft will be changing the location of buttons that link to various services, such as Calendar, People, etc. Instead of those being on the top right, they will be moved into a grid located on the top left. Clicking on this grid provides you with a list of services available to you. Here's a screenshot of the new look with the grid highlighted in red.

2) Groups

Groups is a new feature that will appear soon within your Outlook Web App. A group is a shared workspace for email, conversations, files, and calendar events where group members can conveniently collaborate and quickly get stuff done. More information about Groups will come soon once the service has launched.

Beginning today, all connections to WINGS Express must use the address shown above.  If you are accessing WINGS Express through the link in WINGS, no changes are necessary.

Information About Clutter: A New Service From Microsoft

Monday, November 24, 2014

Recently, some users at Wright State began receiving emails from
Microsoft recommending a new service for email called “Clutter”. Clutter
attempts to remove items from your Office 365 inbox that you are likely
to ignore and places them into their own folder. If you receive an email
about Clutter and click on the link to sign up, you are taken to a log
in screen that then asks for your Office 365 log in information. If you
are already logged in to your Office 365 account, then you will be taken
directly to a page allowing you to enable Clutter.

At this time, CaTS has not used or tested the Clutter service, and we
are not sure of the impact this service will have on your email inbox.
Also, please note that Clutter is not turned on by default for your
account; you must take action to do so. As we obtain more information
about this service we will keep the university updated.

If you have already enabled Clutter and would like to disable it,
here’s how:

1) Log in to your Office 365 account either through WINGS or by going
out http://outlook.wright.edu
2) Click on the gear icon in the top right corner
3) Click on “Options”
4) Click on “Mail” and then “Automatic Processing”
5) Click on “Clutter” and choose whether to enable or disable the service
6) Click “Save”

If you have questions, please direct them to the Help Desk at (937)
775-4827 or toll free at 1-888-775-4827.
