Grayson Highlands Wild Ponies Backpacking

Hike through beautiful spring meadows and pine forests to see the wild ponies of Grayson Highlands! Enjoy the unique mountains and rock outcrops along the Appalachian Trail as we backpack 21 miles over the weekend. Climb to the peak of Mount Rogers to reach the highest point in Virginia.  

Cost: $175 

Cost Includes: ORC trip leaders, all camping equipment, meals on location, parking permits, and transportation from WSU in a 12-passenger van. 

Activity Level: Beginner – Advanced. No prior backpacking experience required.  
Physical Challenge Scale: Level 3: An above-average level of physical fitness is needed to participate in this program. Participant should already have a consistent fitness routine.  
Remoteness Scale: Level 3, this is a backcountry trip.    

Registration: Up to 8 participants. Registration required by August 29
