Updated New Employee Orientation Program

In alignment with the strategic goals and objectives of Wright State University, the Department of Human Resources, with the endorsement of the university’s cabinet, designed and implemented an improved New Employee Orientation program. Effective October 7, 2013, New Employee Orientation will be held on the first and third Mondays of each month* and will be required for all new benefit-eligible employees.

To provide the best possible service to our new faculty and staff and to ensure timely processing of employment paperwork, departments are highly encouraged to align employee start dates to fall on New Employee Orientation dates.

We are pleased to introduce this new program and schedule, which will both improve onboarding processes for our valued employees as well as allow for more efficient use of resources throughout the university. We invite your questions and feedback and look forward to working with you to welcome and orient our newest faculty and staff.

Please contact Human Resources at 775-2120 with any questions.

Thank you,

Mark M. Polatajko,Ph.D.,CPA

Winter Leave in 2013 and later:  Unclassified Staff
and Fiscal Faculty not represented by a bargaining unit

Starting in December 2013, Wright State University will follow the policy below in providing paid winter leave to employees during winter break.  The University will review this policy and the approach described below in the third year, 2015-2016.  This policy will not apply to fiscal-year faculty represented by a bargaining unit.  Faculty on academic-year contracts do not accrue vacation leave and are not eligible for paid winter leave.

“Winter break” consists of the four work days between the paid holidays of Christmas and New Year’s Day.  For the next three years, those days are shaded and labeled in the calendars below for employees working a M-F schedule.  Employees with a regular schedule that is NOT a M-F schedule should speak to their supervisor about their specific circumstances. For information on the policy and the dates, click here.

HR Survey Feedback
"How R we doing"

In consultation with Staff Council, HR's employee survey feedback tool, is open continuously for employee use. Leaving your name and contact information is optional; however we would encourage providing contact information so any questions or concerns can be addressed. Any questions or other feedback will be reported and follow up will occur as soon as possible or within three business days. HR will report the results of the feedback to Staff Council on a periodic basis. The survey is formatted as "How R we doing." This survey should allow HR to provide improved service to our employees, as well as an on-going communication and feedback mechanism.
