The cultural awareness focus has increased significantly. Your future opportunities will be significantly broader if you become knowledgeable of the culture of another part of the world. You will be an extremely valuable asset to the Army or the business/academic world if you speak the language of that culture. CULP allows you the opportunity to be immersed in a foreign culture while accomplishing a real world mission. This experiential learning exposes Cadets to the Army pre-deployment, deployment, and post-deployment requirements and activities. It is also a great opportunity to travel and meet other Army ROTC Cadets from across the country. There are also scholarship opportunities for Cadets with critical languages, see the Army ROTC Human Resources Administrative Specialist for more information.
Commander-in-Chief President Obama, “…in the 21st century, military strength will be measured not only by the weapons our troops carry, but by the languages they speak and the cultures that they understand.”*
