Strategy 1.1 Deliver Innovative and Impactful Academic Programs
Wright State continues to expand pathways for students to earn degrees that meet workforce demand. A new applied business administration program, developed with the Raj Soin College of Business, will allow seamless transfer for associate degree holders from community colleges like Sinclair and Clark State.
The School of Nursing earned full five-year approval from the Ohio Board of Nursing, marking a significant milestone that reflects the dedication of our faculty, staff, and students. Interest in the field remains strong, with nearly 50 students participating in the summer Nursing Camp and more than 80 enrolled in the Nursing Academy.
Social Work graduates outperformed statewide averages on all three 2024 licensure exams, demonstrating the exceptional preparation and quality of Wright State’s academic programs.
Faculty in the College of Liberal Arts launched the first “Wright Questions” general education pathway this fall—an interdisciplinary pilot exploring what it means to live a healthy and good life through linked English and French courses.
At Lake Campus, education students partnered with the Mercer County Civic Foundation to bring hands-on STEM experiences to local families at the county fair, inspiring young learners and strengthening community connections.
Strategy 1.2 Advance Career Readiness and Workforce Development
Wright State launched Career Academy, a new partnership with Coursera that gives students, faculty, and staff free access to thousands of industry-recognized credentials. The initiative helps students build in-demand skills and differentiate themselves in today’s competitive job market.
The Boonshoft School of Medicine deepened its partnership with Premier Health through simulation and flight training opportunities with CareFlight. These experiences place residents in real-world, high-stakes environments that prepare them to deliver exceptional care in emergency settings.
Through Ohio College2Careers, Wright State remains a leader in helping students with disabilities prepare for the workforce. This semester alone, more than 30 students gained professional experience through internships and career readiness programs.
The Master of Public Administration introduced a new Public Health track, designed for healthcare professionals seeking to advance their impact through shared coursework with Wright State’s Master of Public Health program.
Strategy 1.3 Empower Students Through Experiential Learning
Hands-on learning continues to grow across Wright State. The University Libraries’ Special Collections and Archives hosted an intern this summer who gained valuable experience preserving and cataloging historical materials while supporting university research and outreach.
The College of Liberal Arts appointed its first Director of Experiential Learning, strengthening coordination of internships, scholarships, and co-curricular opportunities such as study abroad and the first-year seminar.
The Office of Disability Services expanded partnerships with the Therapeutic Riding Institute and Five Rivers MetroParks, giving students new ways to engage in accessible, community-based experiential learning.
