Dear Colleagues,
I am writing to let you know that Donald Hopkins, interim dean of the Raj Soin College of Business, will retire after more than 20 years of service to Wright State University. Dean Hopkins’ last day at Wright State will be June 30, 2025.
Dean Hopkins provided steady leadership in the Raj Soin College of Business for the last two years. During this time, he led the reorganization of the college into two schools to improve student experiences and academic success; spearheaded the introduction of a minor and micro-credential in artificial intelligence for fall 2025; and developed graduate-level courses in defense acquisition, contracting, and finance.
Dean Hopkins joined the Raj Soin College of Business faculty in 2004 as an adjunct assistant professor of information systems and supply chain management. He also held several leadership positions, notably as director of the Master of Information Systems and Logistics and Supply Chain Management Programs from 2016 to 2023. Throughout his tenure at Wright State, he has been recognized for his commitment to academic excellence, innovative thinking, and building strong partnerships with local and regional industry.
Before joining Wright State, Dean Hopkins built a distinguished 35-year career in information technology, including 15 years in executive leadership roles.
Please join me in thanking Dean Hopkins for his service to Wright State and wishing him well in his next chapter of retirement.
The university will immediately begin focusing efforts on securing an interim dean. A national search for the next dean of the Raj Soin College of Business will commence in the fall.
Best,
Jim Denniston, Ph.D.
