Raiders Club Football Open The Season With A Thriller Versus Oakland

Club Football running out pregame

Wright State Club Football opened their 2025 season with a thrilling home victory over the Oakland Grizzlies. Starting Quarterback Sam Whitten left the game before halftime with a shoulder injury, which left Matthew Gorrasi to lead the Raiders offense.

The Raiders trailed 8-7 after the first quarter and watched as the Grizzlies ran off with a 30-7 score at the half. Wright State began to make their return by closing the gap to 30-20 entering the fourth.

The Raiders came back for a 34-30 win, completing one of the largest comebacks in NCFA history. The home crowd fueled the second-half surge and the defense rose to the occasion. Ryan Reaves came up with a crucial interception with just seven minutes left in the fourth quarter.

The Raiders scoring came from Sam Whitten, Ryan Reaves, Teyoun Mullins, Pablo Dewberry and Alex Meyers, with Aydan Baldwin going a perfect 6/6 on extra points. Meyers sealed the win in the final minutes with a 50-yard touchdown to complete the comeback.

The Raiders look to extend their winning streak at home on Sunday, October 5, 2025, as they host the Milwaukee Panthers at the second annual Club Sports Classic. Kickoff is set for noon.
