  • University scholarship applications for the 2014-2015 academic year are due on February 18, 2014.
  • In order to be eligible for ODS scholarships, you must be registered with the Office of Disability Services, and check the box on the application that asks, "Are you registered with the Office of Disability Services?"

The detailed list of available scholarships offered by Disability Services is below.

ACB Ohio Scholarship

A scholarship ($ amount to be determined) will be awarded to a continuing student who is visually impaired and/or blind who is in good academic standing. Ohio residents will be given first consideration.

Adam Garapic Scholarship

A scholarship ($ amount to be determined) will be awarded to a continuing student with at least a 2.0 GPA, currently living in campus housing on WSU main campus, with financial need, and who has demonstrated drive, commitment, and the ability to overcome various forms of adversity in their life. The recipient will also be recognized at the annual Residence Life Awards reception, held in April. Must submit a 500 word essay.

Eric L. Friedland Fund

$500 will be awarded to a continuing student registered with ODS to assist with the costs associated with international educational experiences, including assistance for students who are deaf, blind, autistic, and/or have mobility needs, and costs for personal assistance, guides, sign language interpreters, etc.

Fairborn Lioness Scholarship

Fred White Prize

$500 will be awarded to a continuing student enrolled in a minimum of 9 credit hours, who has a documented disability and is registered with ODS, who has demonstrated academic achievement, leadership skills, participation in university activities, and/or made contributions to the university/community.

Fred White Endowed Scholarship

$2000 will be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student with a documented disability and registered with ODS, who has demonstrated academic achievement by maintaining a GPA of 3.4 or higher.

George Vernooy Independence Prize

$100 will be awarded to a continuing student with a physical disability who has demonstrated increased independence. Must submit a 200-word essay.

Lee R. & Mary Menke Scholarship

$3000 will be awarded to a continuing, full-time, undergraduate student, who is paraplegic or quadriplegic, a resident of Ohio, in good academic standing, and has financial need.

Michael Emrick Scholarship

$1500 will be awarded to a continuing student enrolled in a minimum of 9 credit hours with a documented disability, registered with ODS, who has demonstrated participation and/or achievements in Adapted Athletics and Recreation, leadership skills, and/or made contributions to the community and has financial need.

Michael Emrick Leadership Fund

ODS Scholarship for First Year Students

$500 will be awarded to an incoming first year student with a disability and a GPA of 2.5, who has registered with the Office of Disability Services.

ODS Scholarship for Students with Learning Disabilities

$500 will be awarded to a continuing minority student with a disability, who has a GPA of 2.5 and has demonstrated service to the university and/or the community at large. Priority will be given to students with financial need. The recipient will also be recognized at the annual Bolinga Center Awards reception held in April.

ODS Scholarship

$500 will be awarded to a continuing student with a physical disability who has a cumulative GPA of 2.5 and has demonstrated service to the university and/or the community at large. Priority will be given to students with financial need.

Ohio Lions Helen Keller Scholarship

Two $3000 scholarships will be awarded to an incoming or continuing, part-time or full-time, undergraduate or graduate student who is visually impaired with demonstrated academic ability and financial need. Ohio residents will be given first preference.

Samantha Laux Scholarship

$500 will be awarded to a student who has completed at least one academic term, is registered with ODS, and who has a visual or hearing impairment, paraplegia/quadriplegia, and/or a combination of these disabilities. Priority will be given to students with financial need.

Thomas C. Faye Scholarship

$1000 will be awarded to a part-time or full-time, incoming or continuing, undergraduate student with a disability. Priority will be given to students majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math.
