Description: Laboratory Safety Training provides an overview of laboratory safety requirements including the recognition and mitigation of laboratory hazards; the use of engineering controls, administrative controls and personal protective equipment; working safely with chemicals, the use of SDSs, procedures for disposing of hazardous waste, and fire safety precautions for the laboratory including:
- General Laboratory Safety
- Hazard Communication/GHS
- Radiation Safety Awareness
- Biological Safety
- Waste Management
Audience: The training is required for all personnel who work in a lab with hazardous chemicals.
Topics include:
- emergency procedures
- OSHA Lab Safety Standard
- health and physical hazards
- routes of exposure
- signs and symptoms of exposure
- recognition and mitigation of laboratory hazards
- use of engineering controls
- use of administrative controls, including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) housekeeping, and
- audits
