This presentation is sponsored by the Asian and Native American Center and gives an overview of the ongoing colonial context that perpetuates and supports violence against Indigenous women in the United States and Canada.  Dr. Hilary Weaver, Professor and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the SUNY University at Buffalo School of Social Work, will describe how gender roles have changd under colonization, the extent of violence, and steps that must be taken to eradicate violence against Native American women.
