Tutoring Services

Overview

Tutoring Services:
Pathway to Success

The mission of Tutoring Services is to serve as a center for learning assistance, and to provide a support structure that allows students to gain self-confidence and independence in their academic work.

Tutoring Services provides Tutors for most 1000 & 2000 level courses, and in some cases, lower level 3000 level courses offered at the university in which a student may be experiencing difficulty.  Students have Tutors and Study Coaches to develop a deeper understanding of class material, and to gain successful skills that can improve the overall GPA.

  • One-on-one or group tutoring is available.

  • In order to accommodate various schedules, tutoring is available from 8am-10pm everyday except Fridays 8am-4pm.

  • First year (by credit hour) and first year transfer students are eligible to receive one hour of free tutoring per week for each course. Upper level students and first year students, who request additional tutoring beyond one hour per week, will be billed at the reduced rate of $5.00/hour (with completed tutor evaluation). Sponsored tutoring is also available through various departments ~ inquire during appointment setup. Walk-in Tutoring held in 122 SC is free.

  • In addition to Tutors, we provide Study Coaches. They assess student academic strengths and challenges, and develop strategies for time-management, test-taking, text-book reading, memorization, and note-taking.
