This presentation gives an overview of the ongoing colonial context that perpetuates and supports violence against Indigenous women in the United State and Canada.  Dr. Hilary Weaver, professor and associate dean for Academic Affairs in the SUNY University at Buffalo School of Social Work, will describe how gender roles have changed under colonization, the extent of violence, and steps that must be taken to eradicate violence against Native American women.
