You’re invited to an advance screening of Sundance Channel’s surprising new series Push Girls.

Push Girls is a half-hour long docu-series, tracing the lives of four dynamic, outspoken, and beautiful women who, by accident or illness, have been paralyzed from the neck or the waist down.

Meet Mia Schaikewitz, one of the four stars of the show. She’s visiting Wright State for a special screening and Q&A session before the world premiere because of Wright State’s excellent record of serving students with disabilities.

At age 15, Schaikewitz was a rising star on her high school swim team and training for a new season when suddenly one evening she found herself unable to move her legs. Within 12 hours, doctors discovered that an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) had ruptured in her spinal cord, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down.

Push Girls premieres June 5 at 10 p.m. on the Sundance Channel, but catch the special screening in the Student Union Apollo Room Monday, May 7 at 7 p.m.
