Join us in making a difference in the fight against cancer! The Wright State University Cancer Resource Center offers you the chance to apply your classroom knowledge to real-world service, while providing vital health and wellness services to cancer survivors in our community.


 

Why Join Our Interdisciplinary Team?

Our programs include an internationally-recognized exercise oncology certificate program, a top-ranked nursing program, and one of the few interdisciplinary wellness clinics in the country with a specific focus on helping cancer survivors.

As a student or faculty member, you'll gain valuable experience working alongside colleagues from across the university, guided by the Wright State ethos of respect, integrity, and stewardship, while serving others with humanity and compassion.

What You'll Help Provide

As part of our team, you'll help cancer survivors receive:

  • Detailed medical screenings and physical assessments
  • Structured exercise sessions tailored to individual needs
  • Education targeting behavior modification and lifestyle change
  • Pre- and post-physiological and psychological assessments
  • Motivational techniques and education for lifelong health and fitness

 


 

Our "Hub Model" of Experiential Education

Students and faculty collaborate across five priority areas of service:

  1. Education and Research—Apply your academic knowledge and develop research skills
  2. Community Service and Partnerships—Build connections with community organizations
  3. Community Empowerment—Help survivors regain control of their health journey
  4. Secondary Prevention—Work on early detection and intervention strategies
  5. Tertiary Prevention—Support rehabilitation and quality of life improvements

 


 

Opportunities By College and Department

College of Health, Education, and Human Services

  • Lead walking clubs, yoga classes, and resistance training sessions
  • Provide health coaching and cancer prevention education
  • Develop behavior modification strategies and wellness coaching
  • Offer counseling services, social work support, and caregiver support programs

College of Liberal Arts

  • Facilitate art therapy sessions and creative expression workshops
  • Conduct music therapy interventions for emotional and physical well-being

Raj Soin College of Business

  • Lead budgeting seminars and financial wellness workshops
  • Assist with tax preparation and accounting services

Cross-Disciplinary Opportunities

  • Organize book clubs, community outings, and cooking classes
  • Develop and maintain community gardens
