Students are highly encouraged to become involved with the student organization known as the "International Cultural Exchange" (ICE). ICE sponsors events to allow international students to experience American culture, culture of other nations and have fun in an informal setting. ICE will host events during the academic term ranging from a visit to a Haunted House to ice skating in cities nearby. It is free to join this student organization.
Founded in Fall 2006 by international student Ronnie Smith, the International Cultural Exchange has become an engaging interactive group for WSU students to make friends and learn about cultural diversity. Projects have included fundraising to aid victims of the genocide in and educational awareness of the present situation of Darfur, Africa.
ICE has an active group on Facebook. Facebook is used as the main means of communication among its members, and events are announced on the group page. Join the Facebook group to stay connected: http://www.facebook.com/groups/8651726324/

ICE provides the opportunity for students to network while reaching out and learning about our world community. Our networking opportunities include opening communication cross-culturally for international and domestic students. At ICE, a student can network with students from the American cultural as well as network with students from all over the globe. Networking can help students find themselves in places and situations they have always dreamed of or never dreamed possible. Whether you looking for someone to network with from The States or elsewhere, ICE can help.
Our group helps students have a sense of pride in being in an environment which is diverse and open to all students. The International Cultural Exchange better prepares students to enter a diverse workforce after college by helping students to experience and appreciate such values as tolerance, understanding and appreciation of a multitude of cultures. Diversity unites our group as one. It is our groups goal to continually make Wright State a university of diversity, of safety and of home-away-from-home qualities to both domestic and international students.
The International Cultural Exchange promotes peace by practicing tolerance. Our group is networks closely and provides activities with the Dayton International Peace Museum. Our members learn about leadership by studying positive role models who have made a significant contribution to peace in today's global society. Some peace promoting leaders we discuss and study include Martin Luther King Jr. , Ghandi, Mother Theresa, and others. By studying peace leadership, practicing understanding and tolerance for people of other cultures, and promoting respect for others we are preparing ourselves with the fundamental principles in which a peaceful society thrives.
Within the Wright State, Dayton area, and international communities our organization, the International Cultural Exchange, is making a difference. We have been volunteering our time and resources at the Dayton International Peace Muesem, in shelter soup kitchens, and even raising money for survivors of the genocide in Sudan, Africa. Our organization makes giving back to the community fun. Our outreach and community service program brings tremendous self-actualization and fufillment to our members, in addition to helping those greatly in need.
Our group offers a safe environment where students can feel comfortable learning about different cultures. People of all cultures meet up at our events and forum and exchange ideas, views, knowledge and techniques about various subjects. The International Cultural Exchange can assist in protecting incoming and outgoing studies abroad students from culture shock by learning within our intercultural awareness programs.
At the International Cultural Exchange our members value friendships as key relationships which unlock the doors to our success. At the International Cultural Exchange students can make new friends not only from the same place of town but rather from all over the globe. It is an exciting and rewarding experience to make friends with a diversity of people from different parts of the world and different walks of life. Students share and give so much to one another through friendships formed at ICE. Being and making a friend at the International Cultural Exchange is a great opportunity for students to make their experience at Wright State University a memorable one.
Our lively human spirit compels us at the International Cultural Exchange to have fun. At ICE we know that the need for students to have fun is important and can be fulfilled by positive social interactions. Our Sunday events are not limited to community service and outreach programs. We also participate in 'fun adventures' in our community such as trips to the Dayton Art Institute, the Dayton International Peace Museum and other places in the close and surrounding community.
One of our on campus events is Bollywood, a night where we honor our favorite movies from India. Another campus event our organization enjoys is Movie Night. On Movie Night our members meet up with students in the Residential Community Association and the National Honory Residential Association for a night of American made movies from Hollywood. Our members also participate in the annual Cinco De Mayo festival as well as a continually increasing assembly of others.
Any student at Wright State in need of knowledge and information about the surrounding area, various cultures, US policy, and a multitude of other subjects can find a comfortable and friendly place to find answers with the International Cultural Exchange. Our group helps students gain knowledge and information about a variety of subjects. Our Safety Awareness Day provides information such as the US legal drinking age (21 years old, for those of you who don't know) and the International Housing Dorms location. We also help you find directions to attractions in the area such as The Air Force Historic Museum, the I-MAX theatre, the Boonshoft laser light show/planetarium and the mall.
Furthermore, our members can introduce to you to members from other campus groups which we network with such as the African Student Association, Latinos in Further Education, Indian Student Association, Asian Student Association, Student Government and others.
The International Cultural Exchange offers opportunities for members to express their uniqueness. If you would like to express and educate people about a culture, diversity or other issue let us know. We are very good at pulling resources and people together for movies, presentations, cultural activities, educational tri
