Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR)
The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs is pleased to provide guidance to the WSU community on the Responsible Conduct of Research. We will continue to make improvements to this page and seek your input as to the contents. Responsibilities of the PI:
- Identify individuals (undergraduates, graduate students and post-doctoral researchers) who require training and contact Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP);
- Verify that individual workers have been trained in accordance with funding agency guidelines;
- Notify RSP when training is complete;
- If the PI wishes to serve as a mentor, s/he must also complete RCR training.
Responsibilities of RSP:
- Provide training opportunities and inform the University community of those events;
- Catalog qualifying University courses;
- Maintain database of individuals trained on RCR;
- Provide certificates of completed training;
- Serve as liaison with other universities seeking verification of WSU employee training;
- Provide subcontractors with flowdown language addressing RCR requirements;
- Communicate with federal agencies;
- Monitor compliance on campus.
